TGIF: Home Sweet Home

This week has been unlike any other I’ve had in a while. For starters, did you know I was in Toronto? Just for three days/nights, but I had to keep it a secret! ING DIRECT Canada flew myself and a handful of other Orange Scarf Ambassadors out, including Bridget and Jordann, for a big event at which they revealed their new name: Tangerine. I’ll write a recap post about the trip next week, but for now I will say it was a really exciting event to be a part of and I’m so grateful to have been invited. (And yes, you’re looking at a pic of us with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, taken shortly after they performed Thrift Shop. So fun!)

Last night, I flew home to Victoria where I will now be housesitting until the 23rd. After my panic attack a few weeks ago, I’ll admit I was feeling anxious about spending so much time away from my new apartment, new routine, etc. But being in Victoria means I get to spend my downtime with friends and family, and I cannot complain about that.

One thing I’m blown away by right now is the fact that we’re already 8 days into November. The end of 2013 is in sight, and there’s still so much I need/want to do! Going into this weekend, I’ll be thinking about how to prioritize my goals and what steps I need to take to accomplish each of them. Finishing up that writing project is at the top of the list…

The low of my week was waiting at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal for 5 hours on Saturday, because two ferries were cancelled due to high winds. What a waste of a day.

The high of my week was finally getting to meet and hang out with Bridget.

An article I loved was The Prophet. I won’t give my opinion, but I encourage you to read it.

The best money I spent was approx. $20 on lattes with extra shots of espresso. Jet lag is the worst.

My plans this weekend include having dinner with a couple girlfriends tonight, visiting with friends both days and getting my haircut on Sunday.

How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  • So you were back here in Toronto this week, eh Cait? I bet that now that you have moved back out west that you kinda miss the “fun and games” that continue to transpire with the village idiots at Toronto City Hall (not)! :-)

I read about ING’s Tangerine rebranding announcement – didn’t know that you were a part of it. Very interesting. I’ll wait to read more details from you about it next week.

As for me, well I’ve booked the Indians to drop by next Monday morning to prune our tall maple trees. We’ve had these guys before and, no, these guys are not from India! :-) These guys are amazing to watch as they climb up into the tall trees, just using ropes (no ladders) to chain saw down branches. Other than that, just more leaf raking in progress all weekend.

    Have a great weekend.

    • Oh my gosh, I honestly can’t hear another word about Rob Ford. It’s getting to the point where it’s just sad that we’re giving him any attention at all. I think/hope enough evidence comes out that it becomes too much and he feels forced to step down. But he certainly doesn’t want to do that now…

My back has been really bugging me this week, but I’ll probably try to rake some leaves next week/weekend too. You’d better get them all up, before the snow comes! (It was too cold in Toronto for my liking!)

  • Photo with Macklemore – too cool!!

We are having a “cultural weekend”, making the most of Marseille being the European Capital of Culture this year. That and a lot of cycling as ever!!

    Have a great weekend.

  • Hi Cait

Sounds like you had an exciting week. This week for me was crazy busy with work but after today I’m very thankful to have FOUR ENTIRE DAYS OFF! Sorry for yelling but I’m super excited. I don’t think I’ve had that many days off together since 2010. I’m not doing anything special. I’m having some girlfriends in tomorrow night, I may do some more decluttering and I’m trying to find someone to drag to the newest chick flick. Oh, I almost forgot… I have to register for school on Tuesday!

I hope you enjoy the weekend.

  • awww I’m the highlight of your week!!

It was so cool to meet you; seriously we are long lost PF sisters. This was such a great trip. You & Jordann are the best.

    • Of course you are! It took way too long for us to meet. I’m glad we got to hang / gossip / laugh for a couple days.

  • Hmmm not sure how I feel about “Tangerine” as a name for a bank… I guess they are trying to appeal to a younger audience, which is a good thing. Well kudos to you for your participation in the event!

  • I LOVE that you went on a secret trip. How fun.
This weekend was epic shopping with mom, hosting a house warming party, and making stew while watching the snow fall (winter came to Calgary – imagine that)
    Enjoy your house-sitting!

  • I saw some tweets from Jordann about the Tangerine event, definitely looked like a cool event to participate in! I don’t blame you for spending the extra money on lattes. I already have trouble in the morning without jet lag, but with jet lag I don’t stand a chance without caffeine.
