TGIF: Hooray for Long Weekends!

What the what? Where the heck did this week go? I was at a clinic on Tuesday afternoon, when I overheard one of the other patients mention it was the 15th of October and somehow it suddenly felt like the 31st. I won’t complain, because I’m enjoying all of the work I’m doing right now, but my schedule is pretty much maxed out to the point that I don’t even know what day it is anymore. I did relax over the long weekend, though. Aside from doing a little writing, I spent most of my time just organizing my new place and getting settled into Port Moody. I turned off my usual 6:00 a.m. alarm and tried to sleep in… and, as usual, I failed at that! But the sunrises I woke up to everyday were incredible. Then on Monday, I finally got out of the house and went for a walk around Sasamat Lake – a picture of which you’re seeing here – with a friend and her dog. It was exactly what I needed…

…and now I’m taking another long weekend! I had a few days of vacation left, so I took yesterday and today off to spend some time with friends. I won’t be relaxing much, but I only get to see some of these friends once/year, so it should be a fun weekend.

The low of my week was… nothing. No complaints here.

The high of my week was winning the Plutus Award for Best Canadian Personal Finance Blog! I think the best part of winning is that the top of the award says it was “by virtue of nomination and votes by peers”. You guys are awesome. : ) Thank you to everyone who voted!

A blog post I loved was Date a Girl Who Writes. The line I loved most was, “She believes in passion and when she discovers it within you, she will forever believe in you.” I’ve read many similar posts, including Date an Entrepreneur – Female Edition by Heather Payne, which so reminded me of my boss.

The best money I spent was $40 for a mani/pedi last weekend. Because… well, just because!

My plans this weekend include hanging out with a whole whack of personal finance bloggers!

How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  • Hi Cait!

Congrats on the award!! That is amazing and you should be so proud of yourself!! :)

My weekend: gym tonight, Applefest tomorrow, gym & “fall ball” Sunday… Maybe a little yard work if the weather is ok.

    Have fun this weeekend!

  • Cait, again so inspiring and congrats! I am so excited to get started and can’t wait for the same progress….fingers crossed :)

  • Congrats on the Plutus Award – that is very exciting!

I had a nice string of shortened work weeks the past two. I had Monday off for Thanksgiving, but I took the Friday before that off, so I ended up with a four-day work week, a four-day weekend, followed by another four-day work week. Next week is going to be tough going back to a full five days :)

  • Ok I loved the “Date a Girl Who Writes” post too except for this part:

“I love the twist and tangle of words as they enflame human emotions.”

at which point I threw up in my mouth a little bit because holy try hard much??

  • My week sounded more like yours.. as in… what day is it again??? I came back from a vacation and by Tuesday night [at the office from 7am til 10pm] I needed a vacation again.

Props to you for having no complaints though! Shows that although you worked hard, it was doing something you love.

Thinking of splurging on a mani myself!

    • Oh my gosh, I still don’t really know what day it is, lol. My goal tomorrow afternoon is to sit down and start mapping out more of a daily routine… like time blocking what I do and when. (That sounds terrible, doesn’t it?)

Hope you’re relaxing a bit this weekend, anyway!

  • Congrats on the Plutus award! Well deserved :) My weekend consists of cooking yet another turkey dinner with all the fixins’ including homemade pumpkin pie. I think I’m never going to want to see a turkey again for at least two years. LOL!
I hear you on the trying to remember what day of the week it was…everything just blended into one this week.
The high point of my week was that I hired a career coach! So excited to get started with them.
All in all, had a great week and fantastic long weekend.

  • Great job on the award and the share of the article is great!

I have had a pretty good weekend myself, I have focused on networking my blog and grown it much more than I thought I would by this point :)
