April #PFWorkout Update

For anyone new to Blonde on a Budget, #pfworkout is a hashtag personal finance bloggers use on Twitter to share exercise, weight loss and healthy living accomplishments. Each month, I set personal goals and post updates on my progress.

Last month, I decided to stop making excuses and start taking control of my physical health and happiness. I lost 8 lbs. and 4.5 inches in March. April on the other hand… well, there were a few excuses in April.

Housesitting was the first excuse I used. It was a fairly valid one, at least during the work week. But then most weekends I ended up only working out once, other than walking the dog. I also gave in to a lot of food cravings, this month. There’s no excuse for that one but the one good thing about eating bad food is that, after a month of eating so well, I was able to see how certain foods really affect me.

Nevertheless, I didn’t lose much weight this month…

This month, I:

  • worked out on 13 of 30 days (including today)
  • ate an average of 1676.5 calories each day (tracked on LoseIt!)
  • lost 2.2 lbs.
  • lost 3.5″

Adding last month’s numbers, I’m down 10.2 lbs. and 8 inches. I’m a little bummed about April’s progress but am using that as motivation for May. And at least those 13 workouts put $65 in my future clothing shopping spree account!

    What #pfworkout update am I most proud of? I’m proud of my knee injury. Yep, that’s right, I’m PROUD of it. The reason being is that it made me re-evaluate my workout schedule, and caused me to realize that while I was taking two days every week off from running, they weren’t really “rest” days as they should have been. I was doing spinning – so my muscles, joints and ligaments were never getting a rest. If I’m going to successfully run my marathon in October, I’ve got to be smart, and avoid injuries. I’m glad this happend in April, and not in September…..

    2lbs is still progress! Plus doesn’t weight loss eventually even out to something like an lb a week once the water weight is gone?

    OMG 10 pounds? That’s amazing! I’ve been slowly getting into the PFWorkout-ing, but so far I’ve only been able to make Monday night workouts a habit. Baby steps!

    Everyone has up months and down months, 10 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!

    This past month I worked out 24 times, spent 17.6 hours exercising, part of which involved running 124km. I don’t have any weight loss goals but I’ve definitely noticed that I’m much more “beach ready” than I was! My 10k run is at the end of this month – when all of this hard work finally gets put to the test!
